barack-ing it
January 20, 2009A change has come.
As many of us have predicted, Barack Obama is now the 44th President of the United States. A lot of trust has been bestowed upon him, and some think it’s too much for him to shoulder. But after watching and listening to him during the inauguration, I have no doubt he’ll continue to be the Cool-Guy Obama.
The crowd was unbelievable, hundreds of thousands of people wanted to witness history. There were smiles, there were happy tears. Even in a little apartment somewhere in central London, I was amongst the emotional lot, curling up on my sofa, eyes fixed on Obama. I was so emotional watching him take the oath (and I’m not even American!). Though he was over-excited and stumbled a bit, he regained his familiar coolness in a nano-second. As a law graduate, he is very very good with words and knows how to say things to engage you to believe him (pffttt i guess different law schools have different ways of teaching).
Some of his words that touched me during his speech:
- “We will extend our hand, if you will unclench your fist”
- “Your nation will judge you on what you build, not what you destroy”
- “Greatness is not a gift, it is earned”
He looks like a genuinely good man with values, and has carved a place in many hearts, not just Americans.
I’m sure the whole world is excited to see what he’ll do after this. Let’s all hope he can bring peace and harmony not just to America, but to the rest of the world too.

he didnt fumble… it was the cheif justice who screwed it up… screwed up a 35 word sentence!!
but if he’s really jewish, i don’t think it’s something, we muslims should celebrate for
well, for better or worse, the times will tell, definitely
allahuahlam..
.canbeanybody : At the risk of sounding ostentatious, I doubt his choice of faith has anything to do with well.. anything.
I mean, granted he is “The Leader of the Free World” and it engenders no doubt that he is an extremely powerful man; but saying “..if he’s really Jewish, I don’t think it’s something we Muslims should celebrate” would be synonymous to saying “We shouldn’t trust Pak Lah because he is Muslim and most terrorists are Muslims”. Just some food for thought π
PS Don’t mean to be pedantic, but the comma between “something” and “we” really shouldn’t be there… and neither should the stick up your arse.
Jewish or not, his father Muslim or not, racial and religious profiling should play absolutely no part in your shallow thoughts.
he didn’t even mention the word Palestine in his inaugural speech..as if the 1400 Palestinians life who was killed didn’t happen at all..and he promised change? read between the lines vv..
As an American (and Muslim nonetheless), I feel that the general public’s view of our President (man, that’s weird not having to type the word “Elect” behind “President” now) is some what flawed, and people need to stop seeing the world behind a veil of ignorance. I mean, read into his speech what you want, but no man can make change and undo the past wrongs in the day. He JUST became President for crying out loud.. give him a break!
