Barcelona 3: the last one

We stayed on the La Rambla itself, so we had easy access to the activities going on on the busy street. It was always filled with tourists and there were many street acts asking for donations and stuff. And apparently the only place that sells churros…pfftt!

L1050880You have to really be careful on this street. Pickpockets everywhere! Never leave your phone on the table etc. And don’t look too hot, because this clown just came and kissed Stella! And groups of guys followed her as well! It was scary!!\’a0

\
There was this spray painting guy that was amazinggg!!! He was so skilled and he made it look so easy. I bought a “The Beatles” spray-painted disc for my dad.\’a0

There was a Kuala Lumpur shop there which was extremely weird. And a halal kebab shop called Tequila Boom Boom. It was hilarious, not only because of the name, but also the irony of it all.\’a0

Just walk straight down the road and you’ll end up in Port Vell, a beautiful and breathtaking scenery of yachts and restaurant ships.\’a0

Then, my pupils dilated, because I saw a mall. A really cool-looking mall.\’a0

I looked like this.\’a0IMG_2658
\

\
BUT I was so disappointed. It was such a shitty mall, with shops I’ve never even heard of. They didn’t even have Zara or Mango or anything. Pftt. We probably spent half hour there and left, me being the most disappointed of all.\’a0
\

\
Disappointment wasn’t for long, though! Because we went to Passeig de Gracia, graced by Chanel, LV, Gucci around us. Such bliss. Sadly, we didn’t enter because we knew we wouldn’t buy anything and that would just depress us. So we went to Zara and Mango instead because we knew it would be cheaper in their homeland Spain than London.\’a0

Of course, I got conned. Because as soon as I came back to London, Zara was (is still) having a huge clearance sale. Why do bad things always happen to me?! Pfftt..
\

\
We also went to this area in Barcelona called Montjuic. It was GORGEOUS!! A hugeeee garden with museums and other touristy stuff in it.
\

\
The fun part was that we went up there using a cable car.
\

\
We lied to Stella saying that it was the only way to get to Montjuic.
\

\
Naturally, Dean and I were jumping up and down on the cable car and scared the crap out of Stella. She was already muttering some prayers under her breath and kept still, gripping the seats, closing her eyes. “In case the base falls and our legs hang in the air, we still have the seats to save our lives!” Er Stell, I don’t think that’s how it works. The base falls, we die.\’a0
\

\
I had to hold her hand the whole time. What a baby.\’a0

The view from the top is gorgeous, isn’t it?\’a0

\

\
We finally got on Montjuic and after Stella kissed the ground and praised the Lord, we admired the greenery and took our time in the garden to enjoy the view and fresh air.
\

\
We went to a castle and braved ourselves to step on the rooftop ledge thingy. There was a huge courtyard which was so cool. I wonder what events had taken place on that very ground back then.\’a0

There were nice beaches outside of Barcelona, but we couldn’t be bothered. So we went to the beach in the city called Barceloneta. I don’t know what that means, but it might as well be “Barcelona’s Nude Beach” because everyone was naked!!!
\

\
We arrived there in our swimsuit plus our skimpy beach cover-ups, and we turned out to be super overdressed. Literally. We were probably the most-clothed people there!\’a0
\

\
We tried to find a spot somewhere decent, but every inch of the sand was covered with nude people with their privates dangling everywhere. At one point, we just stood there, mouth open, but no words coming out. None of us have been to a nude beach before, and now we know why. Because no one there is worth looking at! Everyone had jiggly bodies and were old, it made me feel so good about my own jiggly thighs!
\

\
I have pictures, but it might offend some people (and I might go to jail for publishing them online), so I dare not put it up here. But trust me, it was disgusting!!
\

\
Despite being outcasts in Barceloneta, we clung on to the little piece of cloths we had on our bodies and never gave in to the phenomenon going on there. After a while, we relaxed, and just sunbathed and played sand-mermaids.\’a0
\

\
Of course, they went inside the water and as you might know, I’m sea-phobic and absolutely terrified of the water, so I lodged myself into the sand and refused to swim. Even with that, somehow I got thrown into the water and after several screams and whines, muttering not-so-nice words to Stella, cursing Dean for getting my hair wet and almost drowning to death, I managed to paddle my body back on the sand.\’a0
\

\
The sea water was sooo salty and absolutely disgusting! How do you people do it?!!

All in all, it was an absolutely amazing trip, and I’m really lucky to have discovered Barcelona with people I love. I would describe Barcelona as a very chilled, laid-back and a non-pretentious city (I wore flats the whole time!!).
\

\
I wouldn’t like to live there because of the lack of shopping malls, but a holiday there would very much be at the top of my list!
