ketupat and muruku

Have you heard of “puasa enam”?

It’s basically fasting for six days in the month of Syawal (the month after Ramadhan).

That’s right…more fasting. We Muslims just can’t get enough of it! Hehe.

It’s not mandatory for Muslims to do, as is a whole month of fasting in Ramadhan. But you’re promised good rewards in heaven if you can do it. And well, there’s really no excuse not to do so, if your health allows it. Why not, anyway? It’s a good way to avoid the yummy fatty food served at open houses!

For the  first time in my life, as an adult, I did it this year. (I know, I know…should’ve started loonggg ago)

I have been fasting for six days in a row, and today I have completed it! Wooohooo…I’m so proud of myself.

Tomorrow, I’m going to eat like crazy. I have to accompany my mom to seven open-houses this weekend. Can you believe it? SEVEN!! It’s the last weekend of Raya, where all the last minute Muslims are rushing to host their open-houses. So, you can imagine how much food I will be putting in my mouth. This is not good. I’m going to be so tired….not to mention, fat.

But nevertheless, I am officially going to celebrate my real Raya tomorrow after completing my puasa enam.

And I’m going to start by eating some muruku’s. 🙂
