cuci the musical

November 10, 2009

It was either Kelantan vs Negeri Sembilan football match, or Cuci the Musical.

Toots (a Kelantanese) was like “Come laaaa. If you’re lucky you’ll get to see a riot!” Hehe because Kelantanese have really really strong to the verge of scary spirit of togetherness. The police were ready surrounding the stadium in case any unwanted things happened.

Since I am neither Kelantanese or Negeri Sembilan-ese, I thought it would be a waste of time. And plus, there aren’t any air-conditioners in stadiums.

As opposed to the auditorium in Istana Budaya, which was freezing.

Cuci the Musical was too funny I almost fell off my seat.

The storyline was good and the jokes kept on coming and coming and coming.Β Adlin Shauki and his friends did it again because the whole audience was roaring with laughter. .

It was so nice to see them act together because they made it look so fun and effortless. Probably because they are real friends offstage, so the bond was just natural.

They really made the audience’s presence felt because they came down and interacted with some lucky people at the front of the stage. Made them put their hands up in the air, and other funny stuff. And this was all within the musical’s story line. It was hilarious!

There were so many mistakes and spontaneous lines from the four main heroes of the play, and they kept laughing on stage. Covered their heads with pails, turned around to laugh, hid behind a car or ladder on stage. Even when they tried to keep a straight face, one of them will start vibrating like mad, disturbing the other three. Any other cast doing this would’ve been unacceptable and unprofessional, but somehow with the Cuci crew, it made the audience love them even more. It made them so relatable and unpretentious. And the show even funnier (if that was even possible)!

I went on the last night, so I was quite disappointed that I didn’t know about Cuci the Musical sooner! I would’ve gladly gone again.

They kept incorporating into the musicalΒ updates on the Kelantan vs Negeri Sembilan match. I thought it was so nice of them to update the audience from time to time, because some people actually care that they’re missing this football match. The way they did it was so flawless and it blended with the script, so I was impressed with how clever they did that. When they announced that Negeri Sembilan beat Kelantan 3-1, I quickly texted Toots.

“Are you OK?!!!”

She didn’t reply so I thought there was a huge riot and her security was compromised. She had VIP seats, but still…some men can be really stupid and ruthless if their team loses a football match. Even though they’re not the ones playing and sweating out on the field….it’s actually quite funny.

Turned out she was fine. But she told me the Kelantan supporters got a bit psycho, picking fights, throwing firecrackers and bottles and food at the Negeri Sembilan people…..and at each other as well when there were no Negeri Sembilan people to scream at. Hahahah. And some even burned the plastic chairs in the stadium. Why?!!

I was so glad she got home safe in the end.

As for me, I’m so glad I got to see Cuci the Musical. The best part was that I bumped into an old friend who I haven’t met for sooooo many years…in the toilet. Heheh. Of all places.

I was all smiles. I really really hope they’ll do something like this again.
