time out

March 19, 2010

Tired and slightly drowsy, I came home after work to my nephew and niece. Little Nephew was in a bit of a mood today.

I was having a conversation with another adult, and Little Nephew was all over me blabbing about tigers and whatnot.

“Hold on,darling.” I told him.

I continued talking and he talked even louder, interrupting me and coming in front of my face for attention.

“Please, hold on!”

He still continued.

“Excuse me, I am talking here!” I raised my voice, eyes fixed on him.

“TO ME !!!!! YOU TALK TO ME !! ” He raised his voice back.

Omg, PMS much? Hehe. I couldn’t help it. I wanted to laugh right there and then. Kids are so smart.

I tried my best to keep a straight face and glared at him. He glared back. This went on for a few seconds before  he said, “Stand over there.”

This boy….this little boy….is giving me a Time Out and asking me to stand in the corner.

“Stand over there, Maksu.” He pointed to the corner.

My mom was laughing by now. I felt a smile creeping and quickly stopped myself.

I glared at him again. He glared back.

And as if it wasn’t hard enough to not laugh, he ended my “sternness” by saying, “Naughty boy, Maksu!! Naughty boy!!” eyes fixed on mine, telling me what a naughty boy I am.

“I’m a girl,” I corrected him.

“I’m a girl.” He repeated back.

OK, whatever you want la.
