beef and cheese sauce
April 15, 2010I hardly listen when my brother in law talks, but one day I heard
“….steak and cheese sauce…so good…1 kg steak….”
Say what now?
Beef and cheese?? That sounds sooo good. Why didn’t anybody think of that? Then I realised that those are the two crucial ingredients in a burger. Oh yeah. Duh.
But still…cheese sauce?? Tender succulent beef dipped in melting hot cheese sauce?!!
I couldn’t sleep that night.
Next day, we were at the Vincenzo restaurant in One Bangsar to try out the said dish.
(The One Bangsar stretch is closing soon btw, so hurry before it’s no longer there)
I wanted to have lunch there, but brother in law found out and asked for dinner instead. I told my sister, “Let’s just ditch him. I want to eat that steak now!” In the end, we decided to be nice (it had nothing to do with the fact that he offered to belanja ;))
“Good things always come to those who wait,” his BBM to me.
“Of course. Because the bill always comes to those who postpone,” my BBM to him.
Mushroom soup
I love soup served in bread like this! They’re so hard to find.
The mushroom soup was so yummy, it was a crime to leave a drop.
All that was left of the bread.
Burp.
Half-eaten escargots…I was too distracted by the soup to take a picture of this when it arrived.
Penne with smoked salmon
And then, it came –> THE 1 KG ANGUS STEAK with CHEESE SAUCE.
Yummyyyyy beef
These side dishes came with the beef:
Mashed potato
Sauteed mushroom
Something I didn’t socialise with, therefore, I have no idea what it was.
The black pepper sauce came.
The mushroom sauce came.
“Bon appetit,” the waiter said.
“Uh…where’s the cheese sauce?” I asked anxiously.
“Oh, we stopped making that.”
My brother in law’s face dropped and he was about to cry.
“THERE’S NO MORE CHEESE SAUCE?!!! THAT WAS THE WHOLE REASON WE CAME!!”
“Sorry Sir, we stopped making it.”
Brother in law’s life will never be the same again.
I, on the other hand, have never tried it therefore I didn’t feel bro in law’s magnitude of sorrow and absolute devastation. I was slightly disappointed that they stopped making the gargonzola-whatever cheese sauce, but I enjoyed my steak as I would with any other steak.
Sometimes ignorance really is bliss.
I’ve got to admit, without the fancy schmancy cheese sauce, paying RM 400 for a 1 kg steak wouldn’t really put a smile on my face.
Clearly I didn’t take the bill.
OK I’m going to climb into bed now. Sleeping with Opah tonight because she’s been crying since I’ve been coming back from work late these past few days (she’s too cute). I am soooo tired from work (more on why later) but I really missed you guys (Proudduck regulars), so I just had to blog! Good night!
