positivity!
March 19, 2013I have to admit I am finding it slightly difficult to dress up everyday being pregnant. At 6 months, I think I’m only halfway and the third trimester is going to get more challenging with an even bigger me!
And being in the fashion industry, the pressure is immense to always look your best. I told myself I won’t be one of those pregnant woman who lets herself go and just stops trying to look good. I still need to look good for my husband, pregnancy is not an excuse to neglect ourselves! But of course, it’s easier said than done.
If you’re the lucky type whose weight gain is just at the bump area (think my annoying SIL), then you’re super blessed! But for the most of us, hello Double Ds and Fs and double thighs and double everything else. And it doesn’t help that your husband won’t let you wear heels so there’s no extra height to help you cheat on the slimness effect. For a short person like me, heels have always been my best friend so just watching them from afar sometimes depresses me.
At this stage, I’m still counting my blessings. Apart from the obvious twins that are just super-not-subtle-almost-embarrassing, I haven’t actually gained too much weight in other areas because of this pregnancy. In total, I’ve gained about 5 kg so far. Not sure if I’m on the right track or not, please do advise!
Even so, pregnancy does change a lot in your body and your lifestyle, and I definitely feel it. Some people go through depression during pregnancy, so let’s not drown in that pit!
From what I have experienced, the only thing you can do is to embrace this change in a positive manner. Always keep your spirits up, occupy yourself with your work and of course, it really helps to have a wonderful and supportive husband who lies to you and say you’re the skinniest pregnant woman he’s ever seen.
(I really have high respect for single moms going through pregnancy alone. May God bless you amazing women and give you abundance of strength and pahala!)
So to all my pregnant homies, smile and keep that chin up.
Oh, and always take frontal shots ONLY.
Bahahaha.
Wearing The Lace Tale cardigan and this necklace by Cangkuk from FV. Β
You’re teeny weeny so don’t worry about any weight gain – any sort of weight gain probably makes you look good rather than the opposite. So yup, count your blessings!
Pregnancy itself is beautiful. In fact I think you look even more lovely while pregnant. Don’t worry too much.
After my last comment in one of your pregnancy-related posts, am so glad you wrote this! No more negativity, just positive vibes all the way! π
Hi vivy. You are definitely on the right track. Skinny woman like you (ehemm.. Used to ;p) should gain 8-10kgs by the final week of your pregnancy.

I keep a record of my weekly weight gain (my target is 10 kg max according to my BMI). Then my midwife here in Oz told me not to worry about weight gain as long as i`m taking healthy lifestyle (diet, exercise etc) during my pregnancy. She said “if you go beyond your target, it just requires extra effort to shed the weight later on!”. Puffffff….
ur so small! trust me ur blessed!
Ideally it’s 12kg max! you are on the right track. no worries mommy!
dont worry about the weight gain…it will lose just after the confinement period ends…but for me increased after 2 years..hahaha..nnbtw i went thru my pregnancy and checkup alone…not bcoz im single mom but hubby works far away…and went to labor and delivered without him (mom accompanied me)…sobs..but syukur the delivery went smooth within 1 hour π

MAY ALLAH BLESS YOU!!! Stay strong, you’re an inspiration to all of us.
hehehe yeah that twins are pretty obvious compared to when u were not pregnant
It just a normal gain weight for a preggy women. Some of them just gain about 20 kg during their pregnancy…
5 kg je???? Man, by the time I hit 6 month, I was 2 kg over my ideal pregnancy weight. In total I put on around 18 kg. But you are petite, so it’s not a surprise that you don’t put on much weight. Whatever, as long as the baby is progressively healthy!
hai vivy, ideally u should gain 1kg in first trimester, 5 kg in 2nd tri and 5 kg in 3rd tri. that’s the ideal weight gain. up to 14kg is normal. in underweight individuals they can gain upto 16kg. additional info for u, in obese 7kg is enough π
Ever considered wearing jeggings, Vivy?
