hospital bag checklist
June 21, 2013Clearly this is an unexperienced yet excited mommy-to-be who is a bit cuckoo….
Hehe.
So after getting too many “Merepek!” from people, I did my research on what I really should bring to the hospital.
Here’s the finalized list to share in case this might be useful for you:
Ok fine…. no earrings.
Β Ok, bag is ready now! Mommy is ready!
Every morning I excitedly look downwards for any signs of labour and then sigh disappointedly.
Dean laughed at me. “You checking if you gave birth in your sleep or what?”
-____-
U can leave the breastpad off d list. U wont need it till the 3rd or 4th day. Colostrum wouldnt wet ur bra and it’ll be colostrum for first 3 days at least.
V, bring along poncho. later on baby D might cry for ur milk and there will be so many people in the room and u get so shy to breastfeed him.
bring baby diaper..sebab ada hospital yg will charge you for every diaper yang u guna..and stokin for you..breastpad maybe tak guna for first 2 days..and also dont forget disposable panties too.
If you want to perform ‘Tahnik’ (or belah Mulut) to the baby right after giving birth, bring along some dates or honey. You can also have it later after giving birth because it is a very tiring process and dates will gives you instant energy. And some air zam-zam to sip and at the same time pray to Allah to gives you a smooth delivery.
I pray to Allah everything will be alright….Insyaallah π
ok, dean memang funny..ada ke gave birth masa tidur! hahahahahahaha..doakan vivy selamat 3 beranak..semoga bahagia =)
What about your mobile phone charger?
Don’t forget your phone charger too hehe Yeah poncho or those nursing covers.
Buku tak payah. No time to read maaa! You’ll be bz staring the at baby/layan guest datang/breastfeeding/sleeping. If you need info on anything–just GOOGLE.
disposable pantiessss!! wajib ok.. sebab heavy flow at least 2 weeks π good luck vivy.. we all excited tunggu Baby D keluar..
Nipple cream is a must! Surah yasin or al quran as well.
socks, maternity pads and disposable panties are the most important things or dean might have to pergi balik and buy you more pads and panties..and you wouldnt want to wear the same socks everyday..bawak yang tebal okay π
good luck vivy..insyaAllah semua okay π
I say, FORGET the cord blood collection kit (especially if you plan to do stem cell banking – it’s a scam if you ask wise birthkeepers) and do your own research on delayed cord clamping or even Lotusbirth if you have the guts.
Or there’s always YouTube for shortcuts, here is my mentor and inspiration Ibu Robin Lim (CNN Hero 2011) talking about importance of delaying cord clamping at minute 2:45 onwards http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t05i03HQDQs during Women Deliver Conference in KL two weeks ago.
Anyhow, all the best π beautiful mommy. Forget the checklist too, you already have all it takes to give birth an angel – female intuition and innate strength.
second that Puteri. you won’t have the time to read your book. eh scratch that. you will prolly need it before the labour to kill time. i had my husband read me a page or two of a novel right before the dr broke my water. it’s weirdly calming :0 anyway towards the end you really do want them to pop out already. but just enjoy it cos at one point you will miss being pregnant. you will know when youre finally ready. when i was at my 37th week i kept hoping that there will be sign of labour but then nothing happened! i was in the hosp for an appointment at 39 weeks and i had a hard time walking only to be told that i was already 4cm dialated. i had my baby 6 hours after! baby D will come out when he’s ready to face the world π in the mean time just enjoy it. ooh take a topless pregnant photo of yourself. for private collection of course :n
I’m a retard!
The YouTube link on my last comment supposed to be https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=C6yFpkXqxYQ!
V,
Instead of the conventional b-pads, I’d highly recommended Lilypadz http://www.blessedmums.com/new/breastfeeding/lilypadz.htm
You can thank me later! LOL =D
L.
cant wait to see baby D. keep on checking your insta, twitter and blog..anyway, i hope everything will be fine and smooth on you vivy! dont forget to blog about it as soon after u deliver..hehehe.
Disposable panties and lots and lots of pads. Changing pad every hour because heavy flow. And yes nursing cover because definitely u will breastfeed him while ppl are visiting. Socks and perhaps kain batik? Didn’t use breastpad first 2-3 days tho. Omgodddd so excited for youuuuu. Enjoy the labour. You can do it…
Just. Plain. Scary.
Bring bengkung for your recovering belly. You’ll need support when standing up/ walking.
Baby toiletries? Seba med for babies are good… Drapolene in case there’s diaper rash… Hmmm… What else ah? Soooo excited for the arrival of baby D π
Semoga dipermudahkan segalanya for vivy and baby D? Amin ya rabbal alamin!
Haiyaaaa not ? Laaaar meant to press ! Fat thumb indeed! Sorry peeps…
Breast pump..dont forget that!! Help to stimulate ur milk production and also avoid from breast engorgement…usually it happens on the 2nd-3rd day after delivery…and u do NOT want to experience the engorgement…and also cold/hot pack its essential!! Help to reduce ur backache and also the engorgement…other than that..wish u smooth delivery…β₯β₯β₯
from my experience (3-time-mother), you can slash out No.6,7,8 & 14 from mommy’s list.
the hospital gave me maternity pads, which is better quality & cheaper(yeay!) than the one i bought (they only cost me rm3.80/pack). towel is provided by the hospital too. breastpad not needed yet for the 1st three days. book – no time to read. you’d rather sleep if you have a lone time (giving birth is verrrrry tiring.. trust me!)
as for baby diapers, yes of course hospital charge you (they charge you everything what..) but its not gonna be a huge amount on the diaper, moreover the diaper is a small pack, unlike the one you buy for home use.
look forward to welcome baby D! all the best!
salam vivy..lama x komen ere..doakan u selamat lahirkan baby D soon, nak cepat cepat bersalin senang jer, ni tips dari akk yg der 3 anak 17,15,13 yrs old k, semua anak akk cepat bersalin sbb makin dekat date bersalin makin hubby rajin buat laluan..got it..hahaha..so ask dean buat laluan for baby D selalu k..sure cepat baby D keluar n say assalamualaikum mummy ..hihihi
I would also suggest kain batik. Bring 2-3 pieces. useful bila nk pergi bilik air. Pair it up with a big tshirt. No need kaftan because nnt susah nk breastfeed baby.
I don’t know about people saying they don’t need breastpads, but bring them! because by the third day milk was pouring out like nobodys business! So it may happen or not, but it does not hurt to be prepared.
Hi vivy, u r giving birth at pcmc aite? If dat’s d case u won’t have to bring maternity pads, towel or even the disposable panties. They provide these things & u can always ask for more if needed. π were there a year ago…
U can double check wif the nurse just to be sure… π
Wish u a safe delivery when d time comes…
i say no to disposable panties! super uncomfortable! i bought the cheap grandma panties from giant/tesco/jusco like rm10 for 4/5 pieces… selesa….the disposable ones are just… hmm… tak best! hehe
breastpumps!!!! dont forget that!
breastpump!it is a must!
