structured culottes
January 21, 2014Nothing like the breeze that comes with loose pants.
Skinnies are great for leg-lengthening me thinks, but let’s be honest… it’s so predictable. Let’s give our legs some room to breathe, shall we? 2014 can be their year. Bahaha.
I like the long culottes that I wore by AzuraAzwa because it’s a bit of a fashion statement with the bold structure and clean pleats on the front. The pants speak for themselves so I didn’t want to add anything too heavy on the top. Just a clean white shirt and I played it up with a printed scarf instead. I would also try this look with a tank top and long cardigan/blazer. Or a peplum top for even a bigger A-line exaggeration that I think will look super cool. Pre-headscarf days, I would probably like to see these pants with a white T-shirt and a sling bag for the effortless look.
Heels are A MUST when wearing loose structured pants (I refuse to wear these if I have to visit someone’s house… Asians and their barefoot-in-homes rule pfttttt). So no flats with culottes! Unless your legs run for a mile, of course. In which case… just go away.
Wearing Annabelle pants from Malaysian sister duo designer AzuraAzwaย (they also do stylish kidswearย for girls, thank GOD I don’t have a daughter omagawww)ย and heels from Kiss & Tell, both FashionValet. Scarf from Hermes, shirt from Polo Ralph Lauren, bag from Celine.
Love Love Love Love this look! The pants are more syariah compliance, modest and perfectly defines the term muslimah.
And oh, dear vivy, you look prettier in this Turkish wrap darl. You look younger yet sophisticated. Not many people can wear such hijab but you nailed it!
I don’t know about u or your family but others (Muslim and Malays), we leave the shoes outside because we perform the prayers inside the house. Itโs all about maintaining cleanliness.
yesss, i agree, just go away TT
Absolutely love this look. Classy ๐ I adore the pants on FV but could not bring myself to buy it because like you said, it’s got to be worn with heels. I am a flats girl (p.s. I do not have legs that run for a mile so you can’t shoo me away, haha). But I do wish I can wear heels like you do. ๐
i’m a bit surprised when you ‘pffttt’ the ‘Asians barefoot-in-homes rule’. For me it’s kinda rude. I hope you’ll apologize later. And please don’t be too adventurous with your scarves. you need to cover up the chest area.
for me this style is a ‘NO’.
I reckon she meant it in a jokingly manner! Gosh…
geez, your readers are moral, religion and fashion police aren’t they? Can’t stand all your holier than art thou attitude, and how one is judged by what she wears and how she wears it. You are one brave lady for putting yourself and your family out there to be scrutinized in detail by your overzealous readers, all for the sake of marketing your business.
Omg. U r so blessed with the versatile face shape that goes with any type or style of hijab. For the rounded face like me..i can only dream…unless i wana ended up lookin like the powerpuff girls.huhu.
Homagad! It’s just her way of writing ladies! I bet she and her family open their shoes at home (cant believe this can be an issue). She’s only saying it cos it makes her look shorter than she is if without her heels -_- Dont see a point why she should apologize when its obviously in a jokey manner. Lighten up people.
Some of your readers kan… buat bertenang boleh tak? Vivy was using humour. BERGURAU. Faham?
Gaaaawd.
Such bitter people. Tak de kerja.
Oh noo in all honesty, these pants look really ugly on u, doesnt work. Makes u look shorter lah!
Oh hey to those who says we cant comment , what do u expect us to do when she wrote and put up all these pics herself? So we shud only praise her ?!
This comment column is there for a reason, up to her if she wants to take it positively or not. Does she expect everyone to praise her all the time ? Really?
No. You don’t have to praise her all the time but gaaahh… she was just joking!!!
And seriously, do you go to people randomly on the streets and restaurants and tell them, hi sister, please cover your chest????? Because reading blogs is also like meeting random people, since you obviously don’t even know her.
Give her time. And if YOU have too much time, go read the Qur’an and not this blog just to sakitkan hati orang. Lagi banyak pahala.
Just out of curiosity, which part of the chest is showing? It looks all covered up to me.
She looks absolutely beautiful in any way she wears her tudung. So stylo.
I think you should stick to wearing this kind of tudung. More classy and you can wear really nice silk scarves (Hermes everyday!) this way. Like women in the 60’s you know?
But the pants don’t work for me, just my humble opinion ๐ maybe a bootcut pair of tailored pants would make your legs look longer with the heels.
Keep up the good writing ๐ (Says someone who’s been reading your blog since your London days!)
