in three words
July 30, 2014Happy Raya everybody!!!
Us, all in blue, on Raya morning:
In the AVA group chat, Asma’ wrote to us at the end of first day Eid.
“Ok peeps, some up your day today in three words.”
Of course I scolded her for a few minutes. Don’t know how to spell sum properly, don’t talk to me.
So I was thinking about it. Mannn I had such an awesome day, how do I some (dang silliness is contagious, SUM I MEANT SUM) up my day in only three words? Lots of food, lots of family, more food, more family, and then hours of evening nap. Such good life.
Even the day before Raya was really nice. Dean and I were panicking that we didn’t own individual cookie jars, that was such a big drama and made me question my domestic goddess-ness. How on earth does a house not have cookie jars is beyond me. After buying 6 beautiful small jars at Parkson, Dean and I decided we need to load up the house with flowers for Raya. I chose beautiful hydrangeas, soft pink, soft blue, I can already picture them in my beautiful crystal vases at home. The guy even said they were imported from some garden overseas and that got me even more excited that I told Dean it was worth every penny. Raya morning is going to be beautiful with these centrepieces.
We came home and I immediately took out the majestic-looking vases. Washed them good, added adequate water, and cut the flower stalk. Ahhhh there, looking so beautiful. One bouquet in each vase looked so elegant. Chic and simple, perfect! My living room suddenly looked so classy.
The next morning, bright and early on Raya day, I got up to greet the flowers.
And the shock I got…
WTH?!!!!!!!!
IT’S RAYA, WAKE UP!!!
HOW CAN YOU DIE, YOU WERE SO EXPENSIVE THE GUY SAID YOU WOULD LAST FOR A WEEK.
WHAT DID I DO WRONG???
The blue ones weren’t any better btw, totally died on me a few hours later.
So if I could sum up my Raya in three words (besides the obvious awesome family time etc etc), it would be: No. More. Flowers.
Totally condoning fake flowers from now on.
What about you? Sum up your Raya in three words.ย
ROTFL!!

My three words ๐
hmm. is it because you did not put enough water in it?
vivy, did you buy your flowers from the florist at the same row as hock lee’s? because we did and the exact same thing happened to our hydrangeas on the very same night. and that has never happened before..
too.much.food
hi vy, i had hydrangeas for my DIY wedding bouquet so i had extensive research about it beforehand to make sure they won’t die on me on the big day. hydrangeas absorb water through their petals and they need large amounts of it too so you either have to a) spray water on it every 2 hours or so or b) submerge it in a pail of water for about half an hour every day. I did both for my wedding bouquet which I bought 2 days before my wedding and they looked gorgeous as I walked toward my pelamin hehe! anyway, my raya in 3 words? Love all round ๐
try putting a panadol right after you put the flowers in its’ vase. twill bloom at least more than 24hrs, insyaAllah ๐
Food. Family. Photos.

Those are hydrangeas Vivy, they need constant spraying so they stay hydrated and they need to be in a really cold environment! ๐
