Ignore my previous blog post guys. I totally cheated and went to work for a couple of hours and then picked up kids from school, then went home and spent the whole day with Baby Sarah in my kain batik and socks again don’t worry haha.
But anyway! Something interesting happened when I picked Mariam up from her classroom. There was a BOY, a BOY guys. Not just any boy, but a boy who liked her and she liked him too. IT WAS SO OBVIOUS.
After she put on her shoes and took her bag, she held my hand and we walked towards the exit. The boy (let’s call him STEPAWAYFROMMYDAUGHTERPLEASEBOY) was waiting at the corridor and smiled at her as she walked towards him. I looked at my own daughter who I have changed name to IMGOINGTOTELLDADDY and this girl had the cheek to smile back. Like not just smile guys, GRIN.
So guess what happened. When they passed each other, STEPAWAYFROMMYDAUGHTERPLEASEBOY took out his hands and started tickling Mariam. What on earth, so forward kids these days! My Mariam would never entertain such things. Right, Mariam?!
She took out her hands and started tickling him back.
I smiled nervously at other moms there, and took IMGOINGTOTELLDADDY’s hands. “Come on, sayang, let’s go…” so sweetly I said to her, which really just means “Siap kau…”
She walked with me and then looked back sweetly at STEPAWAYFROMMYDAUGHTERPLEASEBOY. Wahhh, like Hindustan movie guys. Look back and eye contact and all.
Just when we were at the exit, STEPAWAYFROMMYDAUGHTERPLEASEBOY ran to her and she giggled. And over the gate (the gate is short), they both tickled each other’s faces and laughed.
Uh hello am I invisible or something?
In the car, I asked Mariam sweetly through my gritted teeth. “So ummm.. who was that, sweetheart?”
Mariam was taking a cookie from her bag and looked at me, “Huh? Who?”
She bit a piece from the cookie, “What boy?”
GOLDFISH MEMORY MUCH? HOW CAN YOU JUST FORGET THAT YOU WERE FLIRTING WITH A BOY 10 SECONDS AGO, WOMAN?!
“That boy in the blue shirt just now.”
“Oh, that’s Raj. Mommy, can we stop by the shop and get ice cream? Please Mommy?”
“Raj, huh… so what happened to Damon? I thought he was your best friend….”
“Yeah, he still is,” she shrugged, biting another piece of the cookie.
Just last year, she was all about this boy named Jin Han so I decided to ask her about that.
“Mariam, do you remember Jin Han?”
My daughter’s the G.
